Minnesota’s loss Monday prevents me from stringing victories together yet again. Moving on to today, the Angels have yet to win in Tampa Bay this year (0-5) and are facing Matt Garza tonight, fresh off a 2-hit shutout in his last start. My official pick is the Rays to beat the Angels.
Overall Record: 13-9

It’s been a safe bet to go against the A’s lately, and with the Twins riding a 4-game winning streak, the decision is an easy one. My official pick is the Twins and Nick Blackburn to defeat the fading A’s tonight.

The Blue Jays fell to the Indians last Friday dropping my record to 12-8: not great for trying to roll with a winner. With several choices in front of me today, I’m going to make my official pick the Astros to defeat the Giants. Randy Wolf is throwing for Houston, while the struggling Barry Zito (6-14, 5.55 ERA) figures to have difficulty getting a road win against a team vying for its 7th straight win.
Overall Record: 12-8

The Blue Jays came through last night and since no other team is riding a winning streak right now, I’m sticking with Toronto. My official pick today is the Blue Jays to beat the Indians. They will have to do it with inexperienced starter David Purcey (18.1 career IP) on the mound if the Jays want to win their 5th in a row.
Overall Record: 12-7

Tonight, the only team with a winning streak of more than 2 games plays the team with the longest current losing streak (9 games). It seems too good to be true, so we’ll see how it plays out. My official pick tonight is the streaking Blue Jays to beat the downtrodden A’s.
Overall Record: 11-7

I can’t seem to get over the hump and get my own long winning streak. This time around, I’ll ride the hot hand of a winning team. My official pick today is the Rays over the Indians. Here’s hoping Tampa Bay can make it 6 in a row!
Overall Record: 11-6

The Phillies defeated Washington easily last night, making it 5 wins in a row for Philly. The Cubs have already played today and I’m a little hesitant going with the Royals over the White Sox tonight, so my official pick tonight is the Phillies again, this time to beat the Cardinals in St. Louis. Cole Hamels looks to hand Kyle Lohse just his 4th defeat of the season.
Overall Record: 11-5

The Royals pulled it out in 10 innings last night, giving me a chance at my own winning streak. With limited games on tap today, my official pick is the Phillies over the struggling Nationals. Philadelphia has won 4 in a row and Washington is staring down an 8-game losing streak. This seems like a good time for the Phillies to put the pressure on the Mets and Marlins as they fight for the division lead the rest of the way.
Overall Record: 10-5

Doug Davis was perfect for 6+ innings and good enough to defeat the Padres last night. Failing to learn from my mistake of picking a bad team on a winning streak, I’m going to try that strategy again. The Royals, winners of 3 straight, take on the A’s in Oakland this afternoon. The A’s home record is hardly earth shattering (32-28) and Kansas City is at least competitive on the road (25-30). With the A’s slumping and the Royals streaking, my official pick today is the Royals.
Overall Record: 9-5

Sure enough, Maddux and the Padres came through last night. With very few winning streaks going on in MLB right now, I’ll stick with San Diego as Chris Young returns to the mound. My official pick tonight is the Padres to beat the Diamondbacks.
Overall Record: 9-4
